Workshop: Reading and Resilience
After writing 30 books, it still fascinates Deb how a small idea, when nurtured and developed, can become a novel and how reading can nurture and create empathetic humans. Deb writes stories she hopes kids will love, but she also wants to create plots and characters that foster empathetic, resilient young humans. From flooded cities, wondrous books and kindness projects, she’ll explore how her stories put kids at the centre of exciting, sometimes difficult situations but wrapped in the safe world of a book, which can reveal worlds and ways of being that will stay with readers forever.
