Jess Racklyeft is a Melbourne based author and illustrator of over 30 picture books. Her work has sold internationally, and she has won several awards including CBCA Picture Book of the Year for Iceberg (written by Claire Saxby) and is shortlisted for the 2024 CBCA Eve Pownall award for A Country of Colour. In addition to picture books Jess creates paintings, greeting card designs, runs workshops for schools and other creative projects from her very messy home studio.

Everyone Is An Artist
At some point in childhood sometimes confidence in writing and illustrating is lost, and not rediscovered in adulthood. In this one hour presentation, experienced author and illustrator Jess Racklyeft will speak about her time working with children in schools and libraries, as well as her own journey creating picture books. Participants will create their own artwork (the wonkier, the better!) and learn tools they might use in their own schools and libraries to help keep this confidence in creativity alive.
