Wendy Rapee
Wendy was a previous Chair of the National CBCA from 2020 to 2024, has been a member of CBCA NSW Branch since 2000 and is a member of the national
Awards and Governance Subcommittees. Wendy comes from a 20 plus year career in educational publishing and editorial management and has degrees in Librianship and History/Sociology. She likes to build teams, and has a keen interest in Leadership. Her passion lies in the transformational power of stories, how they enrich the lives of young people, and the cultural and social benefits of a thriving reading culture. Opening Keynote:
The Children's Book Council of Australia and the importance of building a culture of reading in schools.
Wendy and Kayte will share with participants the role of the National CBCA organisation and their specific responsibilities around the Book of the Year Awards, Children's Book Week, and the new Shadow Judging the Book of the Year Awards. Overlaying this they will discuss the purpose of the organisation and how we can all advocate for building a reading culture and why that matters.
